The “cadenilla” technique is not an ancestral technique, but rather it is relatively new.
It appeared around 1910 with the arrival in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, Oaxaca, of the Singer sewing machine brought from Europe with one single stitch: the “cadenilla.”
